Q - Tell us something about you?

A – I’m Lorna and I’ll be 44 when I take on the 26 plus miles. I’ve always wanted to run the London Marathon. As a little girl I’d watch it on the television and jog on the spot in front of the TV pretending I was running along with the athletes!

I’m under no illusions that it won’t be like that.  I’ve tried several times over the years to get a place.

I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to not only fulfil a personal dream but also to raise money for The Disability Resource Centre at the same time.

I’ve worked as a radio presenter and journalist for 20 years and have always had a passion for sport. That’s an armchair passion more than a participating one! I’m married to Joe, and we have 3 sons who keep me very busy and active outside of work.

Q - Have you done any runs of this type before?

A – Many years ago I competed regularly in the sport of Racewalking representing Warwickshire and the Midlands region. After having our sons, it’s taken me some time to get back into running, so the farthest distance I’ve competed at is 10km – so the marathon is going to be a challenge – but one I’m looking forward to taking on.

I’m really starting this from scratch as I’ve not run any distance since June this year when I ran the Two Castles 10km race between Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle.

Q - Why are you running for The Disability Resource Centre?

A – I’m running for The Disability Resource Centre because my Father-in-Law put my name into the charity ballot. He knows the Virgin London Marathon is something on my bucket list so it’s all down to him. He’s Terry Garthwaite and is a Trustee and Treasurer and speaks very highly of the work the charity does.

Q - Why are you running for The Disability Resource Centre?
