As a Legal and Governance Trustee, you would help us strengthen how we are governed and understand the legal implications of our decisions. Working alongside our Chair, senior staff and fellow trustees, you would:
o Support the Board in understanding its duties under charity and company law, our governing document and relevant regulatory guidance.
o Help review governance arrangements, including delegated authority, committee responsibilities and how decisions are recorded, so accountability is clear.
o Contribute to policy reviews, helping the Board scrutinise arrangements for safeguarding, equality, data protection and other areas of compliance, within your expertise.
o Bring a legal perspective to significant contracts, leases, funding agreements and partnerships, helping trustees identify obligations and risks before decisions are made.
o Promote integrity and independent judgement, supporting effective arrangements to declare, record and manage conflicts of interest and loyalty.
o Help identify emerging legal and governance risks and recognise when external specialist advice is needed, supporting the Board to understand and act on that advice.
As a Finance Trustee, you would use your financial knowledge to help us make informed decisions and plan confidently for the future. Working alongside our Finance Manager and fellow trustees, you would:
o Review our financial position, including budgets, management accounts, cash flow and reserves, helping the Board understand performance and identify emerging concerns.
o Support financial planning, considering how we can sustain our services and make the best use of our resources.
o Provide constructive challenge, asking questions about financial assumptions, spending priorities and the affordability of new projects.
o Help oversee financial risks and controls, supporting effective arrangements to protect the charity’s funds and ensure they are used for their intended purposes.
o Contribute to the review of annual accounts, supporting accurate reporting and helping trustees understand the key financial information.
o Take part in Finance Committee discussions, offering practical insight and helping develop recommendations for the Board.
