22nd May 2020

Friday night 5K.

Watch Paul on his Friday night 5K run and ponder his first beer in a pub after the lockdown, which is rather handily on his running route:

A bit blurry, but you might be able to see that Paul’s 5K pace is his best yet!

Well done, Paul. Just 2 days before the 10K.

19th May 2020:

Paul achieved a brilliant 7 kms in under 7 mins/km at 7am this morning!

Watch Paul’s latest video as he runs in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside this morning.

17th May 2020:

Paul sent us some short videos showing a typical training run and also a short clip of his brilliant dog, Vince, as pacemaker.

This morning Paul achieved a 10K run. Well done Paul! We are really proud of your progress. Just 8 days to go before the 10K charity run.

15th May 2020:

Paul told us yesterday:  ‘I ran 7k this morning at 6:30am (but my wife ran 8.5k at same time!) and aiming for another 10k(ish) run over the weekend.

I haven’t had a beer since last weekend but can’t promise not to at the weekend.

As Boris has told me personally, that I can now run in the countryside (and for as far as I want and for as long as I want), then to the fields it will be on the 25th May.

One of my friends who works for a brewery has promised me a delivery of beer if I can get under an hour – unfortunately for me his beer is safe!”

Earlier…

Paul said “I was geared up mentally to do the Vitality London 10K which was obviously cancelled due to the current situation and so instead I’m running on my own, live on Facebook. On the 25th May, come rain (or snow!) I’m running 10K and hoping people will sponsor me to support our charity in Dunstable.

Why did I decide to do this? Well, my wife is very healthy and I’m trying to lose some weight (1 stone so far) and hadn’t run for 30 odd years, so I thought it’s about time to get serious with my health. It took me a while to actually get my head around attempting this and believe me, for a start it hurt every time I went running. Although I still find it challenging I am now pretty confident and starting to enjoy a run, especially now I can run for longer and enjoy the lovely countryside.

I’m only averaging around 7 minutes per kilometre so 10K will take me 70 to 80 minutes of running. I hope to do a live broadcast at the beginning, at the midpoint, and at the end.”

We are all excited about Paul’s run and will be posting about his progress on our Facebook page in the days up to the event. You’ll be able to track his progress on the day too.
