Helping carers access their rights on Carers Rights Day in Luton

We’ll be at Luton Point on Carers Rights Day – 21st November

We’ll be helping unpaid carers in Luton check they are accessing their rights as an unpaid carer again this Carers Rights Day.

Join us at Luton Point, with Chums and Healthwatch Luton, on Carers Rights Day, 21st November 2024, from 10am to 3pm.

Sally and Levi, our Carer Support Workers, will be at our stand ready to help answer your questions.

We’ll be taking unpaid carers through our fully updated Carers Rights Day checklist and helping with a full range of support enquiries. You can download our Carers Rights Day checklist that includes explanations to each of the rights.

Our checklist includes carer’s rights like:

  • Flexible working: You have the right to request flexible working arrangements from your employer
  • Time off for dependants: You’re entitled to take reasonable time off work to deal with emergencies involving the person you care for
  • Respite care: You have the right to request respite care to take a break from your caring responsibilities
  • NHS Continuing Healthcare: The person you care for might be eligible for free social care arranged and funded by the NHS
  • Council Tax reduction: You may be eligible for a discount on your council tax bill.
  • Carer’s Credit: This helps fill gaps in your National Insurance record if you’re not able to work due to caring responsibilities

Sally and Levi will be there on the day to explain all the details and the next steps.
