A visit from the Rt Revd Richard Atkinson, the Bishop of Bedford

This week The Disability Resource Centre in Dunstable was pleased to welcome the Rt Revd Richard Atkinson, the Bishop of Bedford, to see our new centre and shop at the Mayfield Centre in Dunstable.

The charity’s Chair of the Trustees, Jill Pick and the CEO Melanie Hawman and the Rt Revd Richard Atkinson, the Bishop of Bedford, discussed the issues being faced post pandemic, by people with disability and long term health conditions.

Members of the charity team were there to talk about the scope of the charity’s many free services that they provide to the local community.

Melanie Hawman, the charity’s CEO, said afterwards “It was a pleasure to host the Rt Revd Richard Atkinson, the Bishop of Bedford, at our centre this morning. We are so pleased to show-off our new centre here in Dunstable. The centre hosts our free training workshops and has a shop full of new and second-hand mobility equipment like wheelchairs, walking sticks and rollators. Our weekly “Mondays at Mayfields” event invites local people into the centre for help and advice from our expert team, plus a complimentary cuppa”.
