Our charity will be opening an interim centre in Dunstable

Melanie Hawman, CEO of The Disability Resource Centre, has this to say about the opening of the centre:

“The whole team has been working extra hard as we move into our new interim site at the Mayfield Centre in Dunstable. Just less than a minute’s drive from the A5 (Watling Street) in South Dunstable, we are now preparing to open our training and wellbeing centre; and a disability equipment shop.

A big thank you to our charity team

I would like to thank the whole team at our charity for the hard work and dedication helping us move into the new centre.

Levi (one of our Carer Support Workers) has volunteered additional hours as painter and decorator. Everyone else in the customer service team has worked tirelessly in making the Mayfield Centre a really excellent place to visit. As a user-led organization many of our staff are vulnerable and the pandemic has seen some of us shielding.

Volunteer recruitment day

We are even more excited than usual to be hosting our first volunteer recruitment day on Wednesday the 15th September. We are delighted with the high number of people who have shown an interest in volunteering for the charity and look forward to welcoming them to the training programme and their new volunteer roles.

We are just adding the final touches to our interim centre in South Dunstable

Even though we are not fully open yet, we have received our first “Thank You” card at the new site. So I would like to thank Linda S from Luton, for taking the time and trouble to send this to the named staff. It makes all of the additional work worthwhile – it truly makes a difference and I am glad you think we do too.”

Melannie Hawman, CEO, The Disability Resource Centre. 14th September 2021.
