As Ramadan begins, we at The Disability Resource Centre extend our warmest wishes to all our service users observing this sacred time.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, widely revered as one of the most spiritual and blessed months for Muslims around the globe.
During Ramadan, adult Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. This act of fasting is much more than just refraining from eating and drinking; it is a journey of spiritual growth, increased devotion, and greater compassion.
Beyond fasting, Ramadan is a month filled with acts of charity, kindness, and community. It’s a time when Muslims are encouraged to give back to their communities, help those in need, and strengthen their relationships with friends and family. The breaking of the fast at sunset, known as Iftar, is often done in gatherings with loved ones and communities, sharing meals and prayers together.
At The Disability Resource Centre, we recognise the significance of Ramadan for many of our service users and their families. We understand that observing Ramadan can come with its unique set of challenges for individuals with disabilities, and we are here to support you in any way we can during this holy month. Whether you’re seeking adjustments to your care plan to accommodate fasting schedules or simply need someone to talk to, our team is here for you.
As we wish you a blessed Ramadan, we also remind our broader community to be mindful and supportive of those observing this month. It’s an opportunity for all of us to foster a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures and traditions that enrich our community.
May this Ramadan bring you peace, health, and happiness. Ramadan Mubarak!
