If you’ve recently received a diagnosis of young-onset dementia then a new support group in Bedford is here to support you.

Meeting monthly on Tuesdays at St Andrew’s Church, Kimbolton Road, Bedford, MK40 2PF.
From 2pm to 4pm

Monthly topics:

  • 25th October: Understanding your diagnosis and the latest treatments
  • 22nd November: Welfare rights and entitlements
  • 24th January: Your rights at work and telling your employer
  • 21st February: Understanding symptoms and building strategies to manage these
  • 28th March: Maintaining independence and activities to help with daily living
  • 25th April: The pathway of support and introduction to the DISS team

According to the organisers “these friendly and welcoming sessions will help you to develop a greater understanding of your diagnosis and to build strategies to continue to lead a full and independent life. These sessions offer opportunities to meet others with similar experience to build a network of social support as well as information about wider services, accessing professional support, welfare benefits and your rights.

Sessions are informal with opportunities to relax and chat over a hot drink, to deepen knowledge and understanding and a chance to talk through experience in a facilitated peer support group.”
