Meet the Carers Central team at different events across Luton
Carers Rights Day takes place on Thursday 23rd November 2023. Each year Carers Central promotes Carers Rights Day to raise awareness of caring, helping to identify carers and signposting them to information, advice and support. This year is no exception.
Carers Central will be located at two different locations throughout the day, where they will be hosting or be part of an event. Join them:
- Outside TK Max in the Luton Mall (LU1 2LJ) from 10am – 2pm. They will be hosting an information, advice, and guidance stall.
- At Luton Central Library, St Georges Square (LU1 2NG) from 1pm – 3:30pm. In partnerships with Total Wellbeing Luton, delivering a free workshop for Unpaid Carers and those struggling with their mental health. Available to anyone over 16 years old living, working or studying in Luton, Central Bedfordshire & Milton Keynes (pre-bookings only, no drop-ins)
The event at Luton Central Library is called “Steps to self-care with tea and cake”. This event is for carers and anyone else affected by caring, or anyone struggling with their mental health. The workshop will focus on how to take simple steps to improve emotional and physical wellbeing. To book your space, please email Levi Habashanti at: levi.habashanti@drcbeds.org.uk
You will also be able to access information about our other free services including Community Central and the Care Academy. Come along and meet our great team and see how The Disability Resource Centre can help and support you in your caring role.

Carers Rights Day is a national campaign that we support every year, along with Carers UK, who say on their website “Carers Rights Day empowers carers with information and support. It helps them to feel confident asking for what they need and challenge things when their rights are not being met, whether that be that in the workplace or education, in accessing health or social care, when interacting with other professionals or at home.”
We have information on our website about your rights as a carer, which includes information about the Care Act 2014, and some useful links about your rights as a carer at work, your social care rights, the rights of young carers and some useful links to helplines and our own contact details.
